I teach 19 hard working, silly, and amazing 2nd grade students in a small East Texas town. I have been teaching for 16 years and been a member of ATPE for all 16. I love what I do. My students love to work with hands-on activities, make creative art projects and play games. Theys do not respond as positively to worksheets or seat work activities as they do to physically manipulating the words, letters, or manipulatives. My students love to work in centers or sing songs to learn new concepts. I strive to make my classroom a fun, safe, and exciting learning environment.
My Project
In 2nd grade, we are building skills needed to make awesome writers of the future. We have a time called writer's workshop. The students are constantly writing new stories.
Keeping them engaged with new and excited writing tools is very important!
I am asking for pencil grips for my students to work on correct handwriting. The mini staplers will provide them a tool to use to staple their story in order.
They use will use the cardstock and paper to create "spider legs" to revise and add to their stories that they write. We love writing in 2E and need to new tools to help us continue to be successful.
