Help me give my students a STEM education driven by 21st Century learning as they learn engineering, coding and cooperation with LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor set.
My students are excited to come to school every day. They are always looking forward to our educational journey for the day. They have all learned what it means to be fully invested in their own learn and they take ownership of their learning. Our school is nestled in the west bench of the Salt Lake Valley and is split between middle and low income families.
My classroom is full of diversity and children from all walks of life.
These amazing students have high hopes and dreams for the future. They are ecstatic about learning especially when lessons are hands on driven and mostly student led. These are the students of the future and need excellent opportunities to stretch their thinking and give them empowerment with their learning.
My Project
My students have been effected greatly by the Covid-19 Pandemic. They have been bounced around from in person learning, to online learning and in some cases both in person and online. The last couple years have been a strain on academic learning and enjoyment along with social and emotional stability.
Having a love of learning is key to academic success in these turbulent times.
As students engage with each other to build and code robots they will be able to keep that fire and excitement about learning alive.
These robots are going to be used to help students engage with each other as they work in teams to successfully create a working robot. While students interact with each other during this stressful time, they will be able to improve their social and emotional well being by hearing each other's ideas and sharing their own ideas and learn how to think the way 21st Century learning is heading. Students will learn what it means to cooperate and how cooperation leads to stronger productivity and more successful engineering projects. Students will learn to problem solve in areas outside of math and learn how to persevere when things are difficult.
