My students are all diverse in that we all come from varying degrees of socioeconomic status, background and ethnicity. Yet, that is exactly what brings us together as a classroom community. Since we have been together for 2 years now, my students have learned the importance of putting their differences aside and working cooperatively with others to get a job done.
My students, however are not without challenges.
They have experienced situations that have made them exhibit character traits of dedication, perseverance and tenacity. I am in awe of them every single day!
My goal is to prepare my students for the future, whatever it may look like, so that they may realize their dream of becoming whatever their hearts desire. My desire is to prepare my students for a world that may not be kind to them, but through technology, they will be able to get through to the most difficult people.
My students come from varying degrees of socioeconomic statuses and as such, rarely have access to computers, tablets or internet. This means that my students lag behind others students in the areas of computer and technology skills. My desire is to teach my students 21st century skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication. These are skills all students need to compete in our global world and one in which my students are lacking.
Technology is essential to a 21st century education because it promotes digital literacy skills.
Digital literacy skills will allow my students the chance to take their learning to a higher level by utilizing computer skills such as keyboarding. Technology also thrust students into global awareness, an essential component to a 21st century education. Global awareness will allow my students to work and accept students from other cultures, thus enhancing a globally diverse world.
I would love to delve my students further by offering instruction in coding and programming and watch their creativity explode as they realize the magnitude of their learning!
