My students are amazing, always wanting to take our studies further. They enjoy the opportunity for independent learning and extended research. All my students have been identified as gifted learners. However, they have varied interests and academic levels.
Some of my students have dual exceptionalities, including ADD, ADHD, autism and other social/emotional challenges.
In an effort to meet the needs of all my students, I strive to provide multiple learning environments and instructional tools.
The drive and desire for learning that I see in my students inspires me to want to bring their learning environment up to 21st century standards.
My Project
In my years as a teacher, I've found that there is never a one size fits all lesson. I adapt my instructional methods to the needs of my current students. I often rearrange my classroom for particular lessons or projects depending on the number of students in a group or the amount of space needed.
Flexibility is key in optimizing space and grouping for my lessons.
In the past I've had to compromise my intended lessons or alter materials due to lack of space. Other times, I've had to push heavy furniture out of the way in order to create the needed space.
Currently I have enough flexible table seating for 18 students. With the addition of 2 more tables, I will be able to accommodate all my students for a whole class lesson and also be able to quickly and easily move or reconfigure the tables for any lesson or project.
