Help me give my students a library that's user friendly and inviting to all by purchasing a new circulation desk that is low profile and can be moved off to the side of the room.
The media center/library serves the 600 diverse students and staff at my school. Students demonstrate kindness and compassion to one another which creates an enjoyable and fruitful learning environment. My students are excited about learning and relish the opportunity to expand their world.
My students enjoy not only "textbook" learning but exploring and collaborating with one another to enhance their educational experience.
A large number of my students participate in a number of different learning opportunities like STEAM club, Battle of the Books, Puzzle day and "book tastings".
My Project
The first thing you see in the library when you walk in the door is a large desk. This desk seems to be saying "You must stop here to see if you're welcome".
My goal is to redesign the library to make it more friendly and inviting to all.
I would like to purchase a new circulation desk that has a lower profile and is set off to the side of the library. In addition I would like to create reading and collaboration nooks with a curved sofa. As well as a self checkout station with their own scanner. To help create that friendly environment I would like to add some library art that is fun and kid friendly and a new library cart that is a bright (instead of industrial brown or grey) color for kids to use to return books to.
