Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students are from underserved communities. These children often lack or are not exposed to necessary learning materials that other children from more affluent parts of the country are exposed to. However, this does not hinder them from performing well at state tests and other standardized tests.
My students this year are really amazing, energetic children who are very eager to learn.
I want them to have every opportunity to achieve their maximum potential during the course of the year.
My Project
The materials requested for my third grade class will encourage my students to read various articles and be able to develop the critical thinking skills needed for 21st century learners.
In the 21st century, we need students who are critical thinkers, and students who will be able use these critical thinking skills to produce excellent writing pieces.
Too often, our students do not have access to scientific magazines and other literature which will help them to develop the skills necessary for them to excel in every area of life.
As the teacher, I will use the magazines for both reading clubs as well as free reading sessions. The writing books will be used especially in free writing so that student can develop those very important writing skills necessary for them to excel.
