My classroom is a great place to spend the day working on math. Students in my classroom work hard, care for each other and enjoy academic success. We have a great program but not enough tablets for every student to have access to one. My students are dynamic, curious, and eager to learn.
.
My students are diverse in economic and cultural backgrounds.
They enter 5th grade with a variety of educational needs. The "Think Through Math" program supplements instruction by providing online lessons that fill gaps in student's mastery of math. As 21st century math learners/teachers, we need more technology in our classroom. One of our major goals at our school is to provide each classroom with more technology to enhance their learning. Many of our students do not have access to technology at their homes when they leave us at the end of the day. Allowing access at school can provide them this learning experience.
My Project
The students will be able to use the 4 Kindle Fire tablets with protective cases on a daily basis. It is my goal to have technology in every kid's hand. The "Think Through Math" program also provides an online tutor that will give students personalized assistance. Allowing students to work at their own pace. QR codes will be used for oral administration on classroom tests.
21st century learners will experience success and become motivated through learning at their own pace in interactive ways.
These new opportunities will build confidence and carry over to other aspects in their education. I hope that the students end fifth grade with the confidence that they can achieve anything with hard work and determination. The use of the Kindle Fire will give all my students a chance to see how technology can enhance and enrich the learning journey into the future.
