Help me give my students flexible seating options! I am requesting yoga balls and mats, fidget bands for traditional seats, and two tall table sets to allow students to stand.
My students are unique, gifted in their own ways, and in need of a champion. I teach around three hundred 7th grade students a year. My students are a mixture of socioeconomic levels but with these different levels, come different struggles.
I strive to teach my students, using methods that are both creative and engaging so my students can find their own way to their success.
When learning is engaging to the whole child, students thrive, not just in my classroom, but in life.
My students don't always have the support at home that is needed to be successful in today's competitive learning environments. Teaching them their own power and problem solving skills is the best way for my students to succeed.
My Project
I teach health to middle school students who are diverse in every aspect of the word. They come from different socio-economic levels, attention levels, academic levels, social/emotional levels, and family backgrounds. I strive to give students opportunities to learn to self-advocate, to take responsibility for their learning and accountability for their decisions. Adding flexible seating options to my classroom will allow my students to focus on the task at hand while channeling distractors in a healthy manner.
Studies have shown that using flexible seating options in the classroom increases students' attention span and decrease frustration, stress, and anxiety levels.
I am asking for yoga balls with balance stabilizers, yoga mats, donut balls, bouncy bands, as well as two tall tables to allow students to learn from the ground up in my classroom. Adding these flexible seating options also has the added benefit of increasing fitness while learning!
