My students need to have more access to technology in our classroom! Tablets will help my students be able to access the needed resources to help them achieve more!
Every morning I pick my students up from the auditorium to begin their school day. I can tell immediately by their faces and body language how our day is going to go for some of them.
Some of my students have experienced more in their short lives than I can even imagine, but they still come to school everyday with a desire to learn and be loved!
They desire to build connections with others and feel like that matter in the world.
Each day I try to show my students that it doesn't matter where they come from, or what happened at home that day or night, but instead that they matter and will always be loved by their teacher and that I will respect their ability to learn new things!
My Project
Last year I received 5 tablets through Donors Choose for my classroom. It was just a wonderful experience adding technology into my classroom. We were able to use them to access technology resources during ELA and Math centers. I saw tremendous growth and engagement from my students because of their ability to access technology resources!
This year I want to continue using tables for center activities, but add several more so we can create digital student portfolios and use them as 1-1 devices within the classroom.
Through student portfolios I will also be able to engage not only my students in their learning more, but also share with the families what their child is doing in the classroom and allow them to feel as they are are part of our classroom and their child's learning!
