My students are from a low-income/high poverty area, and many of them are from immigrant families. These students are often in charge of taking care of their younger siblings and have more responsibilities than your average middle school students. They face challenges both in and outside of school. Many of them do not have technology in their households to meet the needs of the ever-evolving classroom and world around them. That being said, they are still a huge inspiration to me every day. Because of my students, I am learning to be more patient, to be kind, selfless, and composed.
Since many of my students do not have access to technology at home, it falls on us teachers to provide and instruct them about how to use laptops, tablets, and other essential tools to improve their education.
I am piloting a new blended learning curriculum in my ELA classes, and I am asking to add two more Chromebooks to my classroom!
I am back for more tech resources! Living in an immigrant community, class sizes frequently change throughout the year, and I want to be prepared with all the resources my students might need. Currently, I do not have enough Chromebooks for each student sitting in front of me, and it makes it difficult to keep all students focused and on task for their work.
Additionally, starting very soon, I will be piloting a new curriculum where daily lessons are going to be blended between online modules and textbook learning, so it is going to be vital that my students have adequate technology to meet their needs.
