A parent to help with homework, a warm meal on the table and clean clothes to wear to school are things that many of my students only dream of. Over 50% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch, but these barriers don't stop them from loving school and doing their best.
No matter what baggage students walk through my door with, they find a place where everyone matters, everyone has value, and everyone has something to offer.
Our classroom is built on respect and a love of learning.
My students see school as a safe place; a place where they know they are loved and cared for. My students are eager to learn, want to do well and are highly motivated by a good read aloud, technology and each other.
My Project
Chromebooks will help my students to become safe and responsible digital learners as I use them to teach digital literacy and have students access content in math, science, and social studies.
Technology is the future and my students are falling behind.
My 21st-century learners need to learn to communicate, collaborate and think critically in the digital world. Many of my students don't have Internet at home to access resources. School is where they need to learn these critical skills and my classroom is falling behind. This donation will be a big step in helping me teach digital literacy to all my students, not just the few whose parents can afford it.
Through the use of Chromebooks, my students and I will be able to maximize their learning. There are an incredible amount of digital resources that help further student understanding and engagement, but my students are limited in their access to these due to a lack of technology at my school. Students will be able to use these Chromebooks to further explore core content through web-quests, digital labs, and other online resources that are set up through our Google Classroom.
