My Students
My second grade students are enthusiastic and excited about learning. Their thirst for knowledge and love of reading and art inspires me each and every day. The community is socially and economically diverse and consists of many families who speak languages other than English in the home. My classroom is a capsule of America: with differing languages, ethnicities, cultures, traditions, dreams, and challenges. My hope is not only to educate students academically but to also meet their social and emotional needs in order to see them blossom and thrive.
My Project
Having another Chromebook in my class will create more opportunities for students to engage in research for writing assignments, practice typing, and utilize online learning platforms such as Seesaw. It will build their computer literacy, typing prowess, and create confidence in learning with technology. Another Chromebook will make it possible to structure my literacy and science centers with larger groups of students and will foster independence.
Scholastic News will support my students in exploring and investigating 21st century issues.
These nonfiction texts will create enthusiasm, encourage reading and writing skills while students brainstorm solutions, and empower students to discuss current issues.
