21st Century Learners Creating Digital Portfolios
My students need 3 scanners so they can turn traditional assignments into electronic format for their digital portfolios.
Most paper portfolios are just thrown away once they go home. We want our work to be able to go with us from year to year. We are trying to create completely digital student portfolios.
We are at a high poverty, inner-city, magnet school.
We have a diverse population spreading across several nationalities. Most of our students ride a bus to school. We are trying to become 21st Century Learners who incorporate technology into everything we do. This includes how we save our work.
We want to create digital portfolios that showcase our work in all subject areas, including art and handwriting. We need scanners to be able to transfer our hand-created work into and e-format. The scanners will also allow us to created unique slide shows with our own non-digital photos and drawings.
Most paper portfolios end up in the trash can within 6 months of going home.
I am trying to create portfolios that will be interactive and will go with students as they move from class to class and from school to school.
