Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an eager bunch ready to learn. They are a group that range in grade levels from K-6th grade. These mighty little jaguars are resilient to the adversities that surround them in the rough neighborhood they live in. Many of them have parents that work around the clock so they are on campus for 10 hours a day, five times a week making our school their first home.
I teach students that have not yet reached reading benchmark goals for their grade level.
I can sense the urgency and their want and need to catch up with the rest of their class.
I love that they own their deficiencies and understand that they must work extra hard to reach the goals they have set for themselves. I celebrate every stride they make and enjoy making them feel special.
My Project
Young learners of today love to engage with computers, tablets, and devices that are hands-on. The devices that I am asking for will serve struggling readers engage in interactive read alouds, strengthen basic reading foundational skills, and practice recording and listening to their own reading.
Help me develop 21st Century readers that are equipped with the right tools to be successful leaders.
With the help of the tablets, students will be more enthusiastic in creating and delivering their own presentations about the learning they have engaged in within our intervention groups. The goal is to level the plane field for all learners.
