I teach at a title 1 school in a small town. My students are highly diverse in their culture, educational backgrounds, family, and needs. This doesn't stop them from coming together to form a warm, welcoming environment in the school. This is my first year teaching and I am teaching 45 minutes away from my bigger city home. These students welcomed me with open arms and made me feel not only comfortable teaching here, but lucky to teach here.
These students face many challenges but they never cease to work hard!
This area is a low socioeconomic so supplies and resources are difficult to come by. State testing is coming up and we have been preparing the last few weeks. Our district just gave each middle school classroom a set of Chromebooks. We are still in need of a class set of computer mice and headphones, though. These tools will enable my students to perform better in class and on the upcoming state tests.
My Project
I am requesting a classroom set of computer mice and headphones. This will help my students gain 21st century technology skills. We use Google Classroom on a daily basis but students can't hear videos or maneuver the track pad very well. These simple tools will enable students to collaborate with one another, remove frustrations from learning, and perform better day to day. My goal is to help prepare them for the ever changing world we live in and technology is a huge part of it!
I want to bring the world into this classroom and these tools will help me do just that!
