Mr. S. from Philadelphia PA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need headphones to access online literacy programs. They need a long cable and document camera for their teacher to model what to do while actively monitoring.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My scholars are ready to GO from the second they enter the room. They are eager to learn and ready to dive into the learning we've got served up for the day! My 26 boys for the most part are thrilled to get to use computers for much of our instruction this year.
My boys are thoroughly excited about technology.
Their teacher from last year tells me of their interest in creating online presentations, and already they've told me about their favorite ways to enhance their learning using computers. Our school is looking to our group of scholars to embrace technology in order to highlight best practices and push our school's achievement to the next level. We're looking to teach scholars how to collaborate not just in person, but also online to prepare them for productivity in the 21st Century.
Scholars will use headphones to listen to fluent reading - this will allow them to grow based on their projected goals (many of them have set a goal to reach a sixth grade reading level before they get there!). The long cord will allow me to project teaching materials, while being in a position to help scholars who need support with their computers. The document camera will support more tangible needs, like our classroom timer (to be used with and without computers), as well as student writing samples to be shown off to the group. The iPad will be a learning support tool used both for data tracking (keeping track of the classroom economy, supporting scholar leadership in the classroom), and as an added incentive for playing games to enrich their general education.
This project will provide a springboard to help these scholars become technology gurus among their peers.
If we can push more and more of their learning into the technological realm, scholars can learn to become not only more self-sufficient (problem-solving and troubleshooting on their own, should technology fail to perform), but also more able to collaborate with those around them and around the globe. This is an investment in the success of the future leaders of the world.
