My Students

I teach math to 75 6th-8th grade students in a Title I magnet school that focuses on digital arts and technology. My students come to school every day excited to learn about math.

My students are a very creative and collaborative group of students.

They are a very diverse set of learners with diverse needs. I am very lucky to work with these students and I am always trying to accommodate them and help them in any way possible. I love seeing my students succeed and just have fun while doing so!

My Project

Not all students learn in desks in straight rows. Some students need options on how to learn to do what is best for them. Students will sign a flexible seating contract each year and use the seating everyday in class. Students will use the bean bag chairs and floor rockers if they want a more relaxed seating during independent practice time. They will use standing desks when then need help focusing. The ball chairs also help improve posture and focus.

Flexible seating gives every child the opportunity to learn in a comfortable environment and it also helps with fidgeting and nervous energy during class.

This project would benefit all of my students in so many ways. Flexible seating would help make my classroom a true 21st Century classroom, being centered around students. Middle schoolers are so much happier when they aren't sitting in desks all day!
