Thank you for FULLY funding our first iPad! Our goal is to purchase ten STUDENT iPads for the classrooms! I bring my iPad in for students to use and I see the benefits of being able to help a child further their learning in the classroom where I can guide & support them!
In the younger grades our students learn to read by increasing decoding and fluency.
As they transition to 5th and 6th grades they are reading to learn. We need the technology to research the people, places, and events they find in their novels.
My sixth graders are eager to learn and love to read. Our school begins with a nurturing hands-on preschool program and continues through grade six. Our families are education oriented and donate much of their time to assisting in the classroom and within the building. We have a supportive PTA with a focus on CARES. Our students are part of the Responsive Classroom model and take pride in their education and their setting. Students participate in an array of school and community activities, including choir, band, theater, after- school sports, etc.
My Project
Our elementary school of nearly 600 students shares one computer lab. The sixth graders are scheduled for direct instruction 40 minutes every other week. This leaves little time for researching people, places, and events while reading to learn. Our students are sponges for information and WANT to read novels, especially when they connect to our social studies curriculum! The iPad I am requesting would give us immediate access to information.
If we continue to purchase one iPad at a time we can create a rolling cart of iPads with Wi-Fi for STUDENT use!
