This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are coming from a very low-income section of the city; however, they are not short on enthusiasm and energy. My students' experiences outside of their neighborhood are limited. Coming from low-income households causes many scholars to come to school lacking basic reading and math skills. I hope to provide them with many tools and get them on grade level in both math and reading! I want to get them excited about learning and hopefully increase their desire to be successful!
My Project
Unfortunately the school year continues to stay virtual in my district. This means we are continuing to need adequate technology and digital resources to handle the virtual learning platform. During math and reading I am able to do small groups by putting my students in breakout rooms. Unfortunately, many students are kicked out of the zoom program and must log back in while I’m in a breakout room with a group of students. Without a 2nd device I am unable to see the students when they sign back on. An additional laptop will alleviate this issue. Also the students require headphones with mics so I am able to hear them clearly during the zoom lesson. This is especially helpful when I am listening to them read.
