Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My room houses two classes of Math/Science made up of 25 students each. I have the privilege of sharing a classroom with future engineers, doctors, teachers, professional athletes, and lawyers. Infact, I have students that are going to fill jobs that do not even exist yet. I teach at a Title I school. The backgrounds that my students come from are diverse. I have many students who are learning to speak English as a second language. We learn a lot from one another. My students eagerly accept challenges and seize every opportunity that is presented to them.
My Project
These boards will be used daily in groups and individually for practicing skills like word study, math, grammar practice, active engagement during minilessons. We currently use dry erase markers, and old socks/scrap felt as erasers on very loved (stained over the years) whiteboards. My students are 8 and 9 years old, which means dry erase markers get lost or even worse dry out. I am constantly looking for deals, bargains and coupons to replenish the supplies my students need in the classroom: dry erase markers, and erasers are always on the list. Typically my students do not have the resources to replenish school supplies throughout the year. Access to eWriters would cut down significantly on these needs. No markers needed which means potentially no future costs!
These boards will add a touch of technology to my lessons without the need of a charger or a plug- How cool is that?
I want to upgrade the resources my students use. These boards provide a fun visual for students that are visual learners, like ESL students! It also illuminates students notes/ideas so that they are more apt to retain the information taught.
There is no end to the creativity this device can bring to the classroom.
Creating the opportunity for my students to utilize eWriters allows my class to be a part of the modern 21st Century, while engaging my students and making them excited to show me what they know.
