My Students
The students in my room come from all over the Las Vegas Valley. We are a magnet and a Title One school. My students leave home early in the morning sitting on the bus for long rides both to and from home to go to our amazing school. They are very dedicated to their learning as well as working hard for an amazing future. I look forward to using these books to teach reading strategies as well as social studies and social skills.
My Project
These books will be used to teach the common core standards required to learn by second grade. I want to use physical books instead of technology-based books to give my student the opportunity to use a book to prove and discuss their understanding of a particular aspect of comprehension. Each book will be used for a week of explicit instruction with particular standards being introduced, reinforced or used to demonstrate mastery of different aspect of reading comprehension. These books will also be available for students to read for the remainder of the school year. I look forward to being able to teach with these books.
