Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is the oldest high school in our district. We are the proud home of the bears and have some amazing students. We currently have an enrollment of about 2700 students in grades 9-12. Our school is ranked as one of the best and most challenging high schools according to U.S. News. After an extensive analysis of student data from every public school in California, our school has been designated as a clear leader in getting students to grade level and beyond through being named an Honor Roll school for the 2016 California Honor Roll by their sponsoring organizations, the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE). Selected schools demonstrate consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps. Our school is a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) school. The RAMP designation, awarded for aligning with the criteria in the ASCA National Model, recognizes schools that are committed to delivering a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program and an exemplary educational environment.
My Project
We will be using the chrome books as a motivational factor for students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, submit a college application, and a scholarship application all prior to attending the College Signing Day. We want to provide our young students on their way to college with a viable study plan that includes technology and access to technology.
Currently in our city we have 13,818 families without technology access.
With over 80% of the senior class attending college or university in the fall, many lack the resources necessary to obtain technology in order to be successful in college.
