My students need materials such as pencils, folders, and organizational tools to start the school year off on the right foot! These materials will help tremendously!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first year Special Education teacher who is really excited for the school year to start. My students struggle with bringing materials to class as well as organizational skills. I want my classroom to be a safe place for students where they can succeed.
I work at a high school in an urban setting.
My students are absolutely fantastic. They deal with extraneous variables that hinder their educational experience, however their resilience to such barriers is an inspiration.
The school I work has a medical pathway where we prepare students for careers such as EMT's, nursing assistants, as well as elderly care.
My Project
I will be teaching my students Algebra. Last year I found that my students never had writing utensils, and if they did, of course it was not sharpened. I plan to have a station in my classroom where I will supply pencils as well as a sharpener so students can be prepared and we will not waste any instructional time. I want to provide each student with a folder to help with organizational skills. Additionally, the dry erase markers will be used during instructional time. I have individual white boards for students to practice on, however white board markers are in a demand.
All of the materials I asked for are to help my students.
Starting off the school year on the right foot will help me enrich my classroom setting to set students up for success. I am really excited for the upcoming year and cannot wait to see my students grow!
