My students are a group of energetic first graders who come to school each day eager to learn. They attend a high poverty, Title I school in rural Georgia. Over 85% of my children live in poverty. Our elementary school is a low income, rural school.
Regardless of our socioeconomic status, these students are young, ambitious, and smart.
Despite their hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn as much as they can so they can be successful. I teach an amazing group of first graders who come to school each day with smiles on their faces.
My Project
Throughout 1st grade we do projects and interactive notebooks which we need cardstock and glue to complete in language arts, math, science and social studies. We are always needing pencils and crayons to do our daily work in class. The snacks are needed for our classroom to help motivate and keep the stomachs from growling due to a late lunch.
The items that are being requested in this project are essentials that are needed but they will also help make learning more fun and interesting for them.
Due to budget cuts we are not able to get some of the essential items needed for our students. This project will supply the children with some of the essentials items needed to start the year off with a bang for my first graders!
