Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager, brilliant and beautiful mathematicians in need of some material to help enhance their virtual learning experience.
My students are problem solvers and consistently push me to become a better teacher everyday.
They are first graders who are ready to explore what math is in school and in the world around them.
My Project
I am a 1st grade Math teacher and Teach for America 2020 Corp member. Teach for America helps combat education inequity by specifically placing teachers in high-need areas. This project will increasingly help my students who are currently struggling at home due to lack of resources. Physical supplies are ESSENTIAL for early childhood understanding of math concepts. The mouses will help them better navigate our platform Nearpod so that they can appropriately show their work. The manipulatives will help them understand counting, addition and subtraction more visually. The whiteboards will assure that my students know mistakes are okay and be proud of their work to display on camera.
My students are bright and capable mathematicians who can conquer the world if given the right resources.
Students will use these materials daily as we continue to adjust to this online world.
Not only will these materials help them with their daily lessons but will also prove to increase their understanding of mathematical concepts when it comes time for their major tests. Thank you for your consideration in bettering the education system for our children in Newark.
