What? I have to read and write AGAIN? That is what I face each day when it comes to reading and writing with my ESL students. They struggle with these subjects, so they don't want to practice them. I need materials that I can use to engage them during class time to be better readers and writers.
My students are all at-risk struggling English as Second Language learners.
They struggle because they are all English as a Second Language students, and they don't always understand the English language. My students are from China, Yemen, Russia, and Mexico. They really try hard when it comes to learning, but they have the language obstacle to overcome. My students face many obstacles during the school day, and anything I can do to improve their skills will benefit them a great deal. They want to learn, but they don't have the materials to practice reading and writing at home.
My Project
We are requesting workbooks titled 180 Days of Reading for First Grade, 180 Days of Language for First Grade, 180 Days of Writing for First Grade, and 180 Days of High-Frequency Words for First Grade books to improve the reading, writing, and language skills of my students. You will be providing my students with high-interest activities so I can teach reading skills along with the English language. It is very important that these students learn to read so they can be successful in school. If they are able to read and communicate in English, their lives will become so much easier. The workbooks I have chosen are grade level workbooks that the students will be able to improve their reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills in English. This will give my students the opportunity to improve their reading comprehension, fluency, and understanding of the English language. We will be learning valuable skills with these workbooks.
