This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have the opportunity to work with a vibrant, lively group of 1st Graders. They are truly excited about learning each day. They are inquisitive, thoughtful an are excited about working to meet first grade skills to help them be prepared for 2nd Grade. My students have a diverse background of socioeconomic statuses, abilities and ethnicities. My classroom is a melting pop of culture as well as abilities. Each day it is my goal to give my students all the resources and tools that they need to be successful because they deserve the best!

My Project

I am a first year 1st Grade teacher. As the school year comes to a close I have reflected and I know what I need to ensure that next school year is successful. I need math manipulatives to bridge the gap and allow my students to practice the skills that I have taught.

The Money Instant Learning Center will allow me to group my students according to their ability level to give them the much needed practice to help them master the concepts.

With the Geostix, my students will have the chance to build and construct 2D and 3D shapes. This will give the time to understand and master constructing 3D objects. Lastly, I am requesting a Jumbo Magnetic Ten Frame to work on addition, subtraction and working with base ten and teen numbers. This ten frame kit is a must have for my daily math activities.

Students learn best through hands on activities that keeps them actively engaged! I am working to build a first grade classroom that will equipt them with the tools to make this possible. I am excited to begin this journey into building a stronger math area of my classroom. Thanks for your support with this project.
