Help me give my students some wobble stools and stack stools to create a flexible seating environment. These items are shown to help increase movement to keep students more alert and focused.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I, low-income school where opportunities are very limited. Along with this, students vary in intellectual and emotional abilities, so flexible seating would benefit my classroom greatly in many ways. Many students come from single parent households and have limited experiences. My classroom is very diverse in gender, ethnicity, and culture. My students are very eager to learn and succeed in life. Some benefits of flexible seating are increasing movement, stimulating student's touch, and encouraging students to create a positive community environment.
My Project
Flexible seating will allow my students to take control of their learning. Sitting in traditional desks makes it difficult for my students to move while in reading and math lessons. Wobble stools will allow them to be able to move while learning. They can quickly collaborate with each other compared to moving traditional desks and tables. Students can sit more comfortable in the classroom with flexible seating which can make them more engaged in their learning. Flexible seating will allow my students to be more energized because they are not having to sit in traditional seating for long periods of time.
