I have 25 of the most amazing and strong first and second grade students in Minnesota. After the first grade teacher left, I was happy to adopt her class and we have had a lot of fun learning together until COVID-19.
26 students in low income area of North Minneapolis would love to get a Chromebook to continue what we have been doing for 7 months, online learning.
We had weekly Prodigy Championships online.
We has prizes for reading on our e-library Raz-Kids.
We use Many online websites like Epic reading and IXL math and language arts.
My students love to level up their reading and get Flight Checks to practice sight words and record the audio. Others love Prodigy and battle each other at every recess for the entire year. I hope to give these students what they need to not only be happy but keep their reading progressing. With summer around the corner, if these students don't keep reading, they will risk loosing all the skills we have worked so hard to grow this year.
We need HELP!
My Project
My 1st and 2nd Graders need your help. We know how to use so many online resources, but do not have any more Chromebooks. The upper grades got priority, leaving my students at home with only worksheet packets. My students are a bit upset and sad as they feel left out when I spoke with them over the phone. I have opened my wallet this year and purchased several amazing apps to help my students reading and math, but with no device they are not able to continue reading and learning.
Please help me raise money to purchase the Chromebooks that will fill the needs of my 25 students for remote learning during COVID-19.
Please help keep learning going for these students who so often get left out and not supported in the same ways of many other communities. This crisis length is unknown, and my entire class may be home for the end of the school year and perhaps next fall.
I am very proud of my students being able to get themselves into amazing programs like Raz-Kids, Spelling City, Squiggle Park, and IXL that I have purchased for them in the beginning of the year. I noticed how passionate they were bout online learning. Most of these families do not have any laptops for students to get online. If you can help This group with the machines, I know they will be posting in our google classroom thank you text and video messages for years to come!
Thank you for the support and the love for my students in crisis.
