I teach at a school with students from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds. Everything from homeless students to students in million dollar homes can be found in each classroom. You would never know it though based on what you see in our hallways. These students truly exemplify the meaning of teamwork and friendship every day. In my years here I have seen students seek to make sure all their fellow students are included in every activity no matter their economic status or ability level. I am challenged each and every day by my students as they show true compassion for their classmates. This is truly a special place to teach.
My Project
We are seeking to update our current stage sound and lighting systems to better suit our needs as a school. Our current system is down to only two working wired microphones to use for two schools with over 1400 students. This is making large group presentations and programs difficult.
Each year students in grades 2-5 participate in creative programs, parent presentations, assemblies, plays, and all manner of large-group activities in our multi-purpose building.
Our multipurpose building is a large gymnatorium with an excellent sized stage and plenty of room for seating.
The sound system we are currently using has an adequate control board and speakers. It is the tools to use with the speaker and board that are lacking. Microphones (wireless and corded), stands, cables, and stage lighting will offer more depth to the programs our students are able to create and be a part of. Moreover, these additions would give a positive influence on the other schools that are part of our district as our multi-purpose building is used for various district programs and training.
I hope you will consider giving to give our students the opportunity and environment to let their talents shine.
