My students walk into the classroom every day, ready to learn; they are energetic four year old students who have developed a love for learning. They come to school with an energetic, positive attitude on a daily basis. Every day before we start instruction, I ask my students, "How did you come to school today?!" and they respond, "Ready to learn!"
I am the only Transitional Kindergarten class in the school and the students in my classroom are the youngest learners on campus; this is my students' first experience in a structured school setting.
I want them to develop a deep love for learning and have the opportunity to use tools that will enhance their learning experience and set them up with a positive education foundation so they can be successful throughout their academic career.
Transitional Kindergarten is most students' first experience with school; this is the time to make them fall in love with science and math. As a result, I am requesting a color printer, Cricut machine, and a digital camera for my class. These tools give my TK students the hands-on power to excel in science and math instruction.
A hands-on approach with science and math vocabulary picture examples exposes students to science and math while setting a sturdy foundation for a child's future love of these subjects throughout their educational career.
A camera will allow me to capture mathematical and science concepts that will enhance students' learning by giving them a concrete manipulative and regalia to comprehend science and math subjects, such as seasons of the year, graphing, numeracy, and one to one correspondence. In addition, moments of science experiments can be captured and used as a prior knowledge teaching moment to scaffold and assist students in making a connection towards a more difficult science and math concept.
In conclusion, as a teacher I have intensive training in science and math instruction. However, I need your help enhancing the students' academic learning experience with a color printer, Cricut machine, and camera. Thank you for making this happen for my little TK learners!
