1,2,3 Please Read to Me!
My students need a listening center and new books with CD's.
I remember as a child how much I loved story time. Rather at home or at school I could remember either Mrs. Hill or my dad reading to me. I want my students to have the same love for reading as I did as a child.
This is a Title 1 district.
We have many students from diverse backgrounds that come to school with a hunger for education. My students come from broken homes, foster homes, and homes where the environment is unsafe. These students still come to school happy and eager to learn. The students do not have resources to use at home. Their homes are not supplied with books or family willing to read to them. One of my students has an illiterate parent who is not able to read to them. Many parents work late and are not able to spend the time reading to their children.
These items can be used in whole group or a small group setting. This listening station will give my students the opportunity to read along with many of their favorite books, further expanding their love for books and learning. Because of the different learning needs of many of my students, this station would allow students to read and reread many of their favorite books while I pull others in a small group for their different needs.
I believe my project is crucial to the learning environment in my classroom.
By funding this project, it will make a broad impact on the different stations I implement in my classroom. I want to give my students the love for reading that they need to further their education.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
