Do you remember learning to count to five? My students have not yet discovered numbers and the meaning of counting.
My children are from a farming community in a very small rural area of Kentucky.
In a farming community, education is the last thing families think about. When these children come to school, it's their only chance to learn and grow. I believe each child, no matter where they live, needs the opportunity to learn and also the opportunity to imagine great things. Early childhood is the time for all children to develop and learn through play.
My Project
The resources I have asked for will help children understand the basics of counting in the real world. The math games in this project will help children understand how to count, while also learning the rules of games and recognizing others feelings. The math counters will help children understand the concept of one to one correspondence as well. These children are just now learning what a number is. As a teacher, being able to introduce numbers in a fun way will allow children to want to learn how to count and have a positive learning experience about numbers.
This project will make a difference because these children do not have access to materials like this in their classroom.
I want children to strive to be the best they can, and materials like this will help. These children are just now beginning their school career and I want to create a positive start for them. We could sincerely use your help.
