My Students

I have an extra special relationship with my students this year as I am rolling up from second grade into third with them. My class has some strong personalities, but they are bright students who are eager to learn. They are smart, charismatic and just amazing. I know their weaknesses and their strengths, so I know where my focus needs to be to help these kids succeed. I am so excited to be starting another year with this amazing group.

My Project

Math is a hard concept to grasp. Many of the formulas we teach require a higher understanding. It's hard as a teacher to remember these STEM concepts don't come naturally.

Students need hands on materials to fully understand what we are teaching them.

Place value is one of the hardest concepts to grasp. With out a solid understanding of place value, students will struggle with all other math lessons. Place value discs give a hands on approach to breaking down numbers in to their ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands. Another concept my students struggle with is fractions. These fraction rods allow students to build the fractions and fully understand how many pieces are in the fraction and why 1/6 means having one part out of six. Please help up to start our year off right so we can succeed on our State Standardized Testing this Spring.
