My students are CRAZY about technology!!! They love it in the classroom because school is sometimes the only place they are able to interact with it. I want to give my students the ability to interact with technology everyday in the classroom with meaningful activities and assignments.
My students are a group of fun energetic 5 year olds.
They love anything that involves technology. This is sometimes the only way to capture the attention of some of them. My classroom has students from all backgrounds and home life. My school and principal love the idea of doing more for these students, however we are sometimes not able to because of lack of funding.
My Project
I would love to have enough iPads for each of my students to have 1 to themselves where it can be personalized to their specific needs. The #1 App I would use with my students is called Showbie. With this app I am able to upload worksheets, activities, videos, and much more and make them available for each specific student and their needs. Kindergartners tend to lose papers throughout the day and with their own iPad the papers are securely in 1 place. They can take pictures of activities and send them so me so I am able to check how they did on my own time. They can write on the worksheets on the iPad and I am able to check their work and make corrections without carrying a suitcase full of papers. Students can easily resume their activity the next day without the worry of losing their paper. There will also be many others apps downloaded to improve on reading and math. Having an iPad for each student would help individualize the Apps so that they are not doing anything to high or low.
This project will help me and my students become more organized in the classroom by having less papers and activities scattered throughout the room and at tables.
The iPads can be individualized to meet the needs of all my students no matter their learning abilities or disabilities. My class will also be able to learn about the technology that they will most likely be using the rest of their lives.
