Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are Title I school, and our district was one of the many school districts that was impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Our classroom is currently undergoing repair, and most of our computers were pulled out for repairs. This has impacted my students.
My two classes are a mixture of gifted, regular, dyslexic, and autistic students.
Their reading levels range from F to Z. To differentiate instruction, I normally set up stations, where they can do varied activities, such as reading to peers, iStation, task cards, and small group with teacher, among others.
My students love to read chapter books as a class. They look forward to reading chapter books everyday.
They also love to do other interactive stations that involve computers and tablets. Due to the impact of the hurricane, my students are currently finding varied ways to learn.
We are looking for donors who can help us restructure our classroom.
My Project
Our educational system is currently facing a dilemma. Most of our students belong to a group raised in an era where the main source of entertainment is tablets and video games. This poses a big challenge to teachers. Students have shorter attention spans. Traditional methods of teaching are now things of the past.
This project will allow every student in my class to have 100% one on one technology access.
These two iPads and other accessories, such as the 10 headphones and two cases, will be used during reading instruction as part of our daily stations. The extra headphones will be used for the other iPads, we already have. Among the Apps we use are: Istation, tumble books, Capstone, Accelerated Reader, and Overdrive. My students also use iPads to do research to complete their Gifted and Talented Project.
By donating to this project, you will not only help improve and increase student attention span. It will ultimately help students improve academically. This will be a win- win situation for both students and teacher.
