Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Ours is an alternative school accepting students who have faced or are facing challenges that often keep kids from being able to attend school. We have a daycare on campus for our young mothers, and we teach in quadmesters in order to offer students an opportunity for credit recovery. Differentiation is a must in this setting, and I often teach concepts and lessons repeated for a week or more to reach all of the students as they are able to attend. My students need some self-motivating, critical thinking materials to work on independently that supplement our core lessons. This will help me to spiral lessons, repeat content, emphasize important curriculum, and reach all students in some way every single day.
My Project
Help me make a difference by providing materials for each individual learner at each individual level for each individual difficulty for each individual triumph. Help me help students help themselves by giving them the confidence that they are life long learners. Our students each have a trying, individual circumstance they are trying overcome and use for the betterment of themselves and their futures. These students have chosen their education over easier choices. They have decided that their education, no matter the hurdles, is important, necessary, and beneficial. They have chosen success and learning over quick and easy. They have decided to take charge of life.
