My Students

Accounting is a valuable skill in the 21st century. Providing students with 10 key pad calculators with tape print outs will give them a more real life experience for how bookkeeping and accounting takes place in the real world while they learn a valuable skill in operating a 10 key calculator. LVHS is in a Title 1 school district and thus many students don't have funds to purchase their own for class use. This class is taught every year so multiple students will be impacted over the course of time.

My Project

Accounting is a numbers based occupation. In industry, accountants use 10 key calculators with tape continuously. Being able to have high school students learn this valuable industry standard 21st century skill will make them more employable and gain practical skills for the workforce. The accounting class that this project will help provides students with education that would help them in an entry level bookkeeping position. Additionally, it will provide them with a foundation in accounting that will benefit them when they enter business colleges at the post secondary level. Furthermore, we offer 4 semester long accounting classes, thus this project will help students over multiple semesters while attending LVHS.
