My preschool students are energetic, curious and eager to learn and utilize new strategies or materials that are presented to them. I am always looking for new, innovative and interesting ways to teach and engage my students. The majority of my students are of Hispanic descent, mostly Mexican-American born and raised in the Southwest side of Chicago; "Back of the Yards" community.
My students have hardworking, loving parents that may not have the resources or finances to provide the financial support needed for their children to reach their full potential.
I currently teach preschool, a morning and a afternoon session. The majority of my students are bilingual so it is important to offer as much support as needed in learning English. This goes as well for those students who only speak English. Providing my students with the means to reach their full potential and create a life long love of learning. That is what makes teaching both an exciting and challenging opportunity.
Preschool students love looking at pictures. They are extremely excited and proud when they see pictures of themselves working on individual or group projects. These experiences provide preschoolers with the opportunity to promote their developing language and literacy skills.
Being able to print pictures of students' work will allow parents and the surrounding school community to see what projects children are working on; not to mention the fact that the children's self-esteem will be enhanced and promoted with the attention adults are giving to their projects.
Our school has limited color printers and with forty students, ink does not go far. Please help my students display their pictures in the school hallway and newsletters. They will never forget their experience in preschool.
