My Students

My school in Arizona is categorized as a Title 1 school due to the low socio-economic status of our families. My kindergarten class population includes children with diverse backgrounds and life experiences, including students whose first language is not English.

I love the enthusiasm of my students as they enter my classroom ready to explore, play and learn!

Kindergarteners are active and enjoy hands on learning! We take many "brain breaks" to help the children re-focus and burn off excess energy!

Our mission is to provide extraordinary educational opportunities to every learner.

My Project

These movable carpet squares will be helpful in teaching daily math lessons which include: learning numbers, colors, counting, addition, subtraction, learning concepts of measurement, and categorization.

The classroom carpet also provides a place for comfortable floor play and small group interactions.

The carpet is not just peripheral to our daily routine, but serves as the centerpiece of our classroom. It provides each child with a personal space when we are interacting as a whole class. The colored squares form groups that can be asked to interact to answer a question or who can be dismissed to go to another activity.
