This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have always been an old-school teacher (from Louisiana, and I believe in the traditional type of classroom. My classroom is 52 years old, and all of the students that I teach are eagle to learn, but there are very few supplies to reach 500 students, in a class of 28-35 students per 45 minute class. I have worked in Dallas ISD for 14 years, and 90% of the art supplies come from my personal account and $200.00 comes from the district.
It seems as if the students are growing up in a time when education concerns are very important to get out of a bad situation; therefore, a good education is needed.
My students need this type of motivation in their life, to be successful. My students are from poor families where some can’t speak any English. There is no way my students are able to afford to pay an art fee. I hope that you select my school for a chance to receive art materials.
My Project
The Colorful World of Coloring, Jewelry you can wear, and other projects are some of the exciting art projects my students will learn this year. My Art programs have the potential to help improve my students' memory and concentration skills, develop decision-making /critical thinking skills.......but also encourage focus and discipline.
When budget cuts are enforce in DISD Schools, the Art programs are often the first ones to cut.
The Art materials I am requesting will provides my students a solid groundwork for their educational, emotional, social, and creative development. Also, these supplies will be used by the students, so that they may create an amazing art masterpiece.
In this unit, my students will focus on some of the elements of art and principles of design. They will compare different art styles and enjoy using different media of Art. The supplies will allow them to design new and exciting works of Art.
