I teach in a school that is in its third year of the Leader in Me. This culture gives every child an opportunity to be a leader in their own way. Students are leading their own learning and setting goals to reach their fullest potential. I am starting my 6th year of teaching. I have only taught kindergarten and could not imagine myself teaching anything else.
My classroom is filled with 22 eager five-year-olds that are excited about learning and improving their character every day.
For most, this is their first experience in a school. Their excitement about learning motivates me to make every day the best learning experience for them!
My Project
In our classroom, we have some iPad's that are given to us by the district. However, we only have 5 of them with 22 students. The possibilities with iPad's in the classroom are endless! The students use iPad's for listening stations, QR code activities that allow them to check their answers, our district math program that is required to be played on at least 60 minutes every week by each student, differentiated activities on Seesaw, and student created portfolios on Seesaw.
Think about how engaged students could be with the use of more technology!
They love using the iPad to learn and document their progress through Seesaw. Two more iPad's in the classroom would allow more students to meet weekly requirements on district programs and allow them to consistently monitor their progress throughout their kindergarten year on Seesaw. Their parents get to see the progress they post on their Seesaw portfolio. This would allow parents the opportunity to see more of what students are doing in the classroom because there would be more iPad's for students to use.
I know my eager kindergartners would greatly benefit and LOVE more iPad's in the classroom!
