I teach in a school filled with ethnical diversity. The majority of my students reside in the city of Hartford and others come from surrounding towns. The majority are from low income households and a number of whom are English language learners or struggling with mental and physical needs. Many face challenges on a daily basis: lack of transportation, access to resources for school, such a supplies and uniforms, and lack of time to study as they care for younger siblings. Through these challenges my students come to school for a safe place to learn and grow.
My Project
With only a classroom set of textbooks available to my students, they need to keep a binder with all their learning materials at bay. Interactive binders are not only a fun and engaging way to organize the curriculum being taught, but will allow each student to grasp the topics, make connections, not matter their learning style, and for me as the teacher to provide valuable feedback.
Learning science is already engaging and fun, but to make it even better an interactive binder is the key!
The basic supplies, glue, pencils, and dividers I am requesting are to create interactive binders for students in need, as there are always a handful of students amongst the 200+ students I see on a daily basis, that are in need of the supplies.
