This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a group of 62 students who are fun loving, eager to learn new things and excited about school. My school sits is Title 1 school that sits in the heart of DC. All of my students receive free lunch. My classroom would be considered a melting pot of Cultural heritage and social needs. The majority of my students have been in the US less then 4 years or comes from a home we’re English is the second language.
My Project
I am requesting two Android Tablet 10' + Accessories - 5 Unit Class Set for my classroom. The tablets will be used by my students to do research about "GLOBAL WARMING" Students will develop a research question and conduct an investigation to observe sea level rise as a result of global warming. Students will also determine that salt water is denser than fresh water in this project. Students will use the tablets to gather information from UCLA MARINE SCIENCE CENTER to give them a better understanding of why salt water is denser. They will also use the tablets to read online articles about sea level rise and the North Atlantic Current. Receiving funding for this project will improve my students critical thinking skills about global warming, allow them to gather information on a global scale and improve their observation skills. My class will write a creative narrative from the perspective of an animal or person experiencing global warming while living in a certain ecosystem.
After the project my students will have a better understanding of why there is such a focus on the melting of the Greenland ice sheet because of global warming.
