Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a third-year Teach For America fifth grade teacher who teaches a very advanced and motivated group of students at P.S. 128 in Washington Heights. In my classroom, 95% of my students qualify for free lunch. As the designated "laptop class", my students love using computers - they use their laptops to create awesome Powerpoint presentations, charts on Excel, and professional-looking documents on Word. These kids work so hard that I want to reward them with computer games that I know are both entertaining and educational. In the back of my classroom are two working PCs (Windows XP) that the children use to surf the Web and play educational games online. I would like to expand my children's access to resources by installing excellent computer programs that make learning fun! Based on teachers' and students' recommendations (and personal favorites of mine growing up), I am requesting: *Oregon Trail 5th Edition *I Spy Fantasy *Liberty's Kids *Zoombinis Logical Journey (these are all XP-compatible) As sound is very important for these games to come to life, I am also requesting two headphones for both PCs.
