This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of my students have a problem effectively expressing themselves and communicating their thoughts with others. This project is designed to cultivate their writing and presentation skills.
I teach 11th grade English and Creative Writing at a predominantly African American high school in Tennessee.
Many of my students are reluctant to write and posses little to no presentation skills. Often I find that my students write the way that they speak and cannot effectively communicate with individuals other than their peers.
My Project
Many of my students have difficulty expressing themselves in a professional way. They often use slang and inappropriate words in their writing and their speech. Your donation to this project will allow me to teach my students how to write effectively and present themselves in a more appropriate manner. Students will be able create better essays and present information to the class. Students will practice presentation and writing and view their performances for critique.
This project is important in order to build and cultivate skills that my students will need after high school.
My students can apply the skills that they will learn on college interviews, college essays and applications and most importantly job interviews. This project provides an avenue for my students to be productive and positive citizens in their communities.
