My students need basic school supplies such as crayons, glue, paint, and writing paper.

So many students are not having basic needs such eating meals daily, clean clothes to wear each day, and do not have supplies needed for an optimal educational experience. I have sought every means possible to help meet these basic needs of my students.
My students are five and six year old boys and girls who reside in a community that is plagued with drugs, violence, poverty, crime, and abuse.
Many of my students walk through the doors carrying heavy burdens and are unprepared for the learning that will take place. I have decided to take action to ensure that all students have their basic supplies needed to learn. Kindergarten provides the foundation for the rest of a child' life. My students are just like any other students when it comes to learning. Although their emotional burdens may be more than some students they have learned to become resilient and successful lifetime learners. Our school is a public, Title I school and serves over 1,000 students. We have eight sections of kindergarten (over 170 kindergrtners) which includes one self-contained special needs class.
I have so many students that do not come to school with writing (tablet) paper, glue, or crayons. Therefore the optional items that I request on the supply list are non-existent, if I do not find a way to get the item myself. In kindergarten we do several projects, activities and lessons that require students to make crafts, posters or models. If students do not have glue, crayons, paint, or other items needed then completing these tasks are impossible. With the provision of the listed supplies all students will be prepared and ready to engage in learning. In kindergarten we spend a lot of time in small groups, where students use dry erase markers and boards to practice language arts and reading skills. All of these supplies are necessary to give all of our students a chance to learn with basic learning materials.
All of these supplies are needed to give my students a chance to learn with basic learning materials.
If a student is lacking basic supplies such as the ones requested in this project then confidently engaging in learning becomes difficult.
