My students need these 10 hot air balloon kits so we can learn about different types of transportation that can be used to travel around the world.
This project expired on August 20, 2011.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
I work at a school that is on the reservation and these children have extremely limited resources. This year in our summer school we are focusing types of transportation that people have used to travel around and I feel that this would be a great opportunity for my kids to experience something new.
I teach at a summer school for elementary kids on a reservation in South Dakota.
We have limited supplies in order to build our curriculum for our summer program. This year we are focusing on the different types of transportation that people have used to travel around the world. I believe that by using these hot air balloon kits we would be able to introduce something new to these young students.
These hot air balloon kits will help my students in more ways than I could possibly describe. The first way that it will help them is by getting them more interested in school and hopefully science. School has become a burden and a nuisance for most of these kids and these balloons will make learning more fun for them and make them want to attend school. While we are working with our hot air balloons my kids will learn many different parts of science and construction. Before they will be able to construct the balloons they will first have to read and follow directions as well as work with partners.
This project will have a huge impact on the students of my school.
It will hopefully teach the kids about science and math but will also show them that school and learning can be fun. My hope is that by participating in this project I will be able to help the students increase their attendance. These student that have grown up on the reservation need to know that there is more out there and hopefully the school can be the beacon to the outside world.
