This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Have you ever been in an organization in which new materials were so close but out of reach due to shortage of monies? That is one of the obstacles that my middle school band class is facing at the moment.

My students are great kids.

They come to class wanting to learn more about music and be in something that will stay with them forever. My students attend a Title I school where it can be hard to purchase items needed for school. They understand instruments are expensive and their parents do everything they can to ensure they have one. But sometimes things happen to where these items are taken from them; things outside of their control.

My Project

I am asking for a new flute and a new trumpet to add to my classroom. These instruments will be used by students whose parents cannot afford them for their child and for other students years later in a band classroom setting. My students will learn how to play these instruments and enjoy making music with other students.

My students will learn that music is not only challenging but rewarding to themselves and to become advocates to music education in their adult lives.

I also believe that these instruments will help bring my students together in having pride in giving back to their community.
