Mrs. S. from FL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a full size MIDI compatible keyboard to have a hands-on experience using music technology and producing their own compositions.

Music is the one place a person can go to tell a story of pain or joy, express a political statement and to escape. With so many advances in home production software, I want my students to create and share their music with the digital world.
My students are vivacious and curious individuals that are hungry for a comprehensive music education.
Most have never been exposed to the arts, let alone music technology. I want my students to connect music education and technology with the world around them by integrating music production and technology into the curriculum. We are a Title One school, in an impoverished area with an extremely high number of students receiving free or reduced lunch. Fortunately, my students are able to be in an environment that fosters love and seeks opportunities for growth.
Having a full size MIDI compatible keyboard in our classroom will help to complete our Rockin' Eagles music production team. Many of my students have awakened their inner musician and need a means of adding instrumention to their compositions. This keyboard would allow them to play their creations into the computer-adding necessary ornamentation to create a masterpiece. The students will leave my classroom with improved composition skills and in depth look at being a music producer.
Donating to this project provides inner city school students with a state of the art music technology experience.
Students will not only produce their own music but integrate language arts, mathematics, science and humanities all into the music curriculum. Realizing that not all students are academically gifted, this rare opportunity to express themselves creatively could be highlight of a student's school experience.
